Core competencies in Social Development:

• Drought Mitigation through Natural Resource Management : Disha has specialization in this area since we have completed various Drought Mitigation & Management, Watershed Programs in Ajmer & Barmer districts successfully through support from ORGANIZATION, CARITAS India, IGSSS & Manos Unidas. We are also awarded for outstanding efforts in NRM at state level.
• Sustainable Livelihood through promotion of improved practices and technologies of agricutlure, livestck rearing and non-farm activities in Ajmer & Barmer through support from CARITAS India, CRS India.
• Non-formal education and mainstreaming to formal education system : Organization have a good experience of last ten yrs. in non-formal education and bringing the drop outs to the formal systemof schooling. Outreach programs and school quality enhancement programs (school & teachers capacity building), nutrition support to non-formal and formal education institutions in more than 100 units, library programs in 91 govt. schools are some of major efforts of Disha RCDSSS.
• Commodity (material) management : Managing million tons of Bulger Oil and other commodities in a year has been an essential part of DAP I, II, II which was supported by ORGANIZATION over the period of 15 yrs. It was implemented in four districts under SMCS, HCD, Watershed and IHC programs. Organization has a sufficient infrastructure and system for managing the commodity.
• HIV/AIDS mainstreaming, care & support and awareness on health issues : Disha runs the first HIV/AIDS care & support centre having capacity of 30 beds. Awareness Counselling and rehabilitation efforts have been made in 53 villages intensively for three years. We are also the leading Organization for CSO forum of mainstreaming HIV/AIDS at District & State level which is sponsored by RSACS, Jaipur. We have also initiated capacity building of village health & sanitation committees in two district (Ajmer & Bhilwara) with support of NRHM covering 2092 villages of 14 blocks. Total 14000 VHSC members were trained.
• Promoting good governance in Panchayati Raj System in 6 panchayats of Ajmer & Barmer district through increasing people's participation in gram sabha, social audit, enhancing capacity of PRI members and initiating village development micro-plans.
• Promotion of Community based organizations (CBO) at village level viz. :256 Self Help Groups, 274 - Kisan Clubs, Village Development Committees, Producer Groups, Water User Groups, Bal Manch, Youth Groups, Peer Educators' Group, Mahila Mandal, SHG Federation to increase participation, ownership, sustainability of development initiatives.
• Gender & Women Empowerment: A major cross cutting intervention of the organization from its origin. Cluster & Federation level operations are made to build leadership and socio-economic empowerment of women for last ten yrs. Similarly “gender” has been a cross cutting issue to be address in all our interventions.
• Disaster Management : Immediate relief & rehabilitation in emergency of drought, flood and fire in Ajmer & Barmer district.
